Alexander Isley Inc. Creates Package Design
for “Starbucks
Express”
Design firm Alexander Isley Inc. was chosen to design
the packaging for a Starbucks limited-edition holiday promotion; the
Starbucks Express,
a steam locomotive.
Inspired by classic steam engine trains of the early 20th century the
Starbucks Express sold at select Starbucks locations throughout the
holiday season.
“The packaging design echoed the golden age of train travel, and included
a modern type treatment on the back,” said Isley.
In addition
to naming the product and designing the retro-style packaging, Alexander
Isley Inc. created a collector’s edition poster discussing
the history of railroading in America. Steve Forney created the illustrations;
Tara Benyei was the senior designer; and the copy was written by Dave
Goldenberg.
